The 17

There are glimpses of two members of Free School watching Mr Bill Drummond in this video. But don’t just watch them. Watch Bill Drummond. He’s talking about his The 17 project at Eastside Galleries.

Tomorrow Never Knows (sometimes it does)

The final Wire magazine of the year has Animal Collective for the Invisible Jukebox. The anticipation for the release of their new album is at fever pitch. I can’t wait. And nor can The Quietus.

This song will be on it and it is one of the most stunning tracks I’ve ever heard. Brother Sport:

Bradford Cox posted some AC micromixes earlier this year which go a long way to help shine a light on where AC come from, what they listen to and how that influences their music. Highlights for me are the two opening tracks but listen to the whole thing.

Geologist: Steppin’ Out by Joe Jackson

Avey Tare: Rocky Road by The Alabama Sacred Harp Singers

(The Panda Bear mix doesn’t seem to work for some reason…)

From Before

Went to see Waltz With Bashir yesterday here. Its a must-see film that is genuinely must-see. The soundtrack was for the most part by Max Richter who also donated some songs to it. He’s a name that I’ve see written but never heard his stuff until yesterday.

Here’s an excellent interview with him from Boomkat

I listen to a wide range of music the whole time – but when I’m doing my own work I really don’t think about other peoples things at all – it is more about following an idea to its logical conclusion than making any references to anyone else…that is not to say there isn’t some overlap in what I do with other artists – obviously there is – but I think different people will hear it differently depending on their own reference points – electronica fans will hear Boards Of Canada, classical aficionados will hear Arvo Part
